Weaving things together

I’m weaving the story together these days. It is really starting to take shape and has some of my illustrations throughout – 15 to 20, I think; some old and some new. It’s in English, as it somehow feels easier to express certain things in English for me.

The title is: “What’s the matter with Maria?” and I’ve drawn what I (so far) think could end up as the cover, too – shown below (although this photo taken by my smartphone doesn’t quite do it justice;)). It’s a sort of sentimental children’s book with a hint of magical realism, timeless novel, parable, heroines journey…or some mixture of those genres.

The main audience is probably highly sensitive, introverted children and their parents + highly sensitive adults and perhaps INFP/INFJ in Myers Brigg personality type test. In general: the sensitive inner child.

It has been a fun endeavor with much editing along the way! I may be rather slow, but that’s okay. Mostly the process is fulfilling and satisfying and I’m pleased with the result, so far.

In writing this, I finally see things falling into place; it feels very natural for me. I hope I’ll be able to get it out into the world someday, and if so; that someone will benefit from its story and message.

The story is somewhat inspired by my childhood environment; the location and mentality. It’s a (slightly dramatized) conglomeration of a lot of things, altered and weaved together.
-funny how characters can start to live a life of their own inside you. Or perhaps they were there beforehand; simply waiting to be expressed and put onto paper.

Inspiration has been drawn from a myriad of other sources, too. For example personal experiences, insights and dreams.

Grateful for every source of inspiration!
